[March. 6th, 2017. Incheon, Korea]

The largest quantity of refrigerated cargoes and cold storage cargoes simultaneously arrived at Incheon Port since opening of ocean-lines bound for the U.S.

On March 1, Incheon Port Authority (www.icpa.or.kr, CEO Bong-hyeon Nam) announced that 42 FEU(Forty-Foot Equivalent Units) container boxes containing 1,050 tons of refrigerated cargoes and cold storage cargoes that had been loaded at LA Port in the U.S. arrived at Sun Kwang New Port Container Terminal (SNCT) in Incheon on February 28.

The cargoes loaded in 40-feet containers that are two times larger than 20-feet containers include refrigerated livestock products and fresh items such as oranges, lemons and potatoes. According to the Incheon Port Authority, importation of oranges through Incheon Port get into its stride as orange importation season is around the corner.

Fresh cargoes that had entered the Incheon Port in the morning of February 28 were unloaded in the morning and completed inspections in the afternoon. At the request of consigners, the cargoes were taken out of the port after customs clearance on March 1.

On February 18, 200 tons (8FEU) of US oranges were imported through Incheon New port, and as consigners dealing with the same items decided to use the Incheon Port one after another, importation of oranges through the Incheon Port is expected to be further increased.

According to the Incheon Port Authority, as fruit importers who had not been accustomed to using the Incheon Port experienced advantages of use of the Incheon Port in terms of speedy inspection process and reduced costs by introducing cargoes on a trial basis, they decided to increase the quantity of importation through the Incheon Port this year.

In the meantime, importation of refrigerated livestock products through the Incheon New Port continues to be maintained. As consigners’ positive opinions on speedy inspection services that are offered twice a day are spread in the market and 100FEU or more containers can be inspected on a daily basis, the number of consigners using the Incheon New Port is expected to be further increased.
