[January. 18th, 2016. Incheon Korea] Incheon Port Authority (www.icpa.or.kr, President Yoo Chang Keun) set it's core business plan for 2016: Vitalizing Incheon New Port in early stages and achieving 2.5M TEU container handling volume in this year.

Incheon Port Authority(IPA) announced that IPA had made a business plan for the new year and decided to do it's utmost to provide port users and customers with attractive and competitive business environment and services in the year opening briefing presided by president Yoo Chang Keun.

As HanJin Incheon Conatiner Terminal (HJIT) would open on March 2016, two container terminals - HJIT and SICT - of Incheon New Port will be in operation. IPA expects that this additional opening will contribute to the better service of Incheon Port providing more prompt logistics service with reasonable price.

In particular, IPA decided to build CFS(Container Freight Station) bonded warehouses and parking spaces for lorries near Incheon New Port to facilitate handling LCL(Less than a Container Load) cargoes and to improve logistics flow. Also, IPA noted that it will make every effort to provide 24/7 port service under the cooperation with CIQ(Customs, Immigration, Quarantine) organizations.

At the same time, IPA also made a plan to concentrate on opening a new ocean route to Europe and such, added on CC1 route which is currently provided, and making Incheon Port become a global leading port.

With these plans, IPA is ready to consolidate it's position as top 2 ports in Korea by accomplishing 2.5M TEU container handling volume that is more than 5% year-on-year increase.

Yoo Chang Keun, the president of IPA, said "The new opening of HJIT in March 2016 and the successful operation of SNCT since June 2015 enable Incheon Port to accommodate large container ships. On the strength of it, we will be very active in boosting up the transpacific route to the U.S., opening additional ocean routes to Europe and attracting new shipping lines in 2016."
