 The first marketing on ports in the Americas that was conducted by CEO Bong-hyeon Nam of Incheon Port Authority (www.icpa.or.kr) since he was inaugurated in February made a significant success by meeting with cargo owners. IPA expects that the port marketing will further growth of importation of high value-added frozen and cool-storage cargoes transported from the Americas to Incheon Port.      

 

IPA announced that it conducted port marketing in the Middle West of the U.S. in order to induce high value-added cargoes from April 24 to April 28 and produced tangible results by drawing positive responses from large livestock cargo owners and frozen and cool-storage cargo forwarders with regard to increased utilization of Incheon Port. 

 

In particular, CEO Bong-hyeon Nam with IPA promoted the advantages of utilization of Incheon Port in the port marketing in the Americas based on Incheon Port facilities and convenient inspection services while eradicating misunderstanding and concerns about Incheon Port by collecting complaints and opinions from concerned export cargo owners in person. 

 

According to IPA, an American livestock cargo owner A using Incheon Port said that importers are satisfied with inspection and customs clearance services offered by Incheon Port, and as reduced land transportation costs and speedy transportation induce cargo owners to Incheon Port, it plans to additionally increase the quantity of cargoes transported in and out of Incheon Port.

 

According to IPA, another livestock cargo owner B who successfully used Incheon Port at a time of transporting frozen cargoes announced that would consider using Incheon Port at a time of transporting cool-storage cargoes.

 

IPA in the past had to make a lot of efforts to persuade US exporters who do not have confidence in importation and exportation through Incheon Port. According to IPA, during the marketing targeted at America exporters, CEO Nam focused on confirming that domestic cargo owners experienced no problems in inspection and custom clearance at a time of using Incheon Port and explaining that they are satisfied with speedy warehousing in the capital area.

 

In a press conference with the local logistics industry, CEO Nam promoted Incheon Port services offered to the US and discussed a possibility of inducing cargoes.

 

Forwarder D, a global frozen and cool-storage transporter, who said that they continuously sent general cargoes to Incheon Port but that came to know the advantages of frozen and cold-storage business offered by the port during the meeting expressed their intention to export high value-added frozen and cold-storage cargoes through Incheon Port while requesting IPA to conduct consultations with its branch office in Korea and promising to export 100 TEU or more dangerous cargoes through Incheon Port every month.      

 

Through the marketing, IPA plans to continuously create new cargoes through facilitated exchanges of opinions with frozen and cold-storage cargo exporters in the US and enhanced network activities while rapidly responding to requests made by cargo owners and forwarders with regard to Incheon Port services. 

 

In particular, IPA plans to endeavor to enable Incheon Port to realize a structure where more people can conduct consumption activities at reasonable prices by reducing costs of importations through decreased logistics costs as the port is located nearest to the capital area, the Korea’s largest consumption market with high demand for frozen and cold-storage cargoes.
