○ The Incheon Port Authority (www.icpa.or.kr, President Lee Kyung-Gyu) announced on December 7 that it was selected as an outstanding public institution at the 2025 Port Security Best Practices Competition, which was hosted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries at the Government Complex Sejong.
○ The annual event is held to share best practices in port security nationwide and enhance professional expertise, with port authorities, regional offices of oceans and fisheries, and related organizations nationwide participating to exchange field experiences and operational achievements.
○ The Incheon Port Authority was recognized for its efforts to improve the temporary port access pass system in coordination with the Ministry of Justice and to advance the port-wide security surveillance x-framework, enabling Incheon Port to achieve four consecutive years without a security incident.
○ In particular, the IPA received high acclaim for being the first port in Korea to utilize the Ministry of Justice’s personal information database of foreign nationals, thereby preventing illegal entry by undocumented individuals into critical infrastructure and significantly enhancing the operational efficiency of security personnel by digitalizing verification procedures.
○ President Lee Kyung-Gyu remarked, “As Incheon Port plays a critical role in national security and port operations, we are continuously striving to establish a robust port security system.” He added, “With seamless interagency and interministerial cooperation, we will continue to ensure Incheon Port remains secure and free of security breaches.”
