Nam, Bong-hyun, former Deputy minister for Planning and Coordination Office at Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, was appointed as the 5th president of Incheon Port Authority(www.icpa.or.kr, IPA). After having inauguration at IPA's auditorium on 6th February, Nam, Bong-hyun, the new president of IPA got down to business. 

In his inaugural address, Nam stated that "he feels a sense of responsibility as president because it's time for Incheon Port to go further, and he was determined to devote all his effort to the growth and development of Incheon Port and IPA.

In particular, Nam presented IPA's mid and long term vision to be a hub port at Northeast-Asia area and the metropolitan area, and to be a marine tourism hub and said IPA will achieve our mid-term goal to handle 3.5 M TEUs container cargos annually, and record 2.5 M passengers by 2020.

To achieve vision and goal, president Nam presented apriority strategies like expanding port infrastructure promptly, improving port functions, increasing cargo volume, improving marine tourism infrastructure and service, securing future growth engine, and recreating urban hub port space. He emphasized that all employees should gather skills and passions.

He said he will set up a specialized strategy considering functions and roles of South Port, Inner Port, and North Port as well as securing the competitiveness of the Incheon New Port and promote balanced development of Incheon Port.

Nam also said that the cruise terminal built on New International Passenger Terminal will be completed by next year, and the New International Passenger Terminal, which is a part of the Golden Harbor project, will be successfully promoted until 2019 and Incheon Port will be a best place for marine tourism.

In addition, he emphasized Incheon Port, which has been promoting the expansion of port infrastructure and upgrading logistics service as a fast follower, should take the lead in finding new business model as a first mover.

To this end, he will review the high-value-added logistics cluster to attract global logistics company and secure Incheon Port's future engine. He also said he plans to promote automotive and R&D clusters including refrigerating and freezing logistics clusters utilizing new eco-friendly technology and state-of-the art IOT(Internet of Things)

President Nam emphasized that the corporation should consider creating shared value as one of the important purpose because it is a special type of company in which the public sector and the private sector coexist, and emphasized that we will cooperate and communicate with the industry and community for mutual growth and mutual benefit.
