Bong-hyeon Nam, CEO of Incheon Port Authority (www.icpa.or.kr), held a briefing session to promote Incheon Port to members of Association of Foreign Ship Owners’ Representatives in Korea and met with high-ranking officials of foreign ship company in Lotte Hotel in Seoul on February 21.  

 

According to Incheon Port Authority (IPA), CEO Nam explained infrastructure of Sun Kwang New Port Container Terminal(SNCT) and Hanjin Incheon Container Terminal (HJIT) in the first stage of Incheon New Port that are expected to be fully opened this year and convenient services to representatives of 14 foreign ship company attending the briefing session. 

 

Promoting advantages of opening of ocean-lanes between Incheon Port and major ports in the world and competitiveness of Incheon New Port that can accommodate large vessels, he urged representatives to develop interest in the service as users.   

 

Through the briefing session, IPA conducted proactive marketing activities in order to attract new routes for Incheon Port by providing the latest information including high demand for shipments in Incheon Port located to the capital area that is required to review introduction of new services by each and every ship owner.    

 

Bong-hyeon Nam, CEO of IPA, said, “As the quantity of goods transported through Incheon Port has continued to be increased on the back of expectations for reduced logistics costs in Incheon Port on the part of shippers in the capital area and on the strength of improved convenience in use of Incheon Port, the quantity of container cargoes transported through Incheon Port recorded 2.68 million TEU in 2016, up 12.7% from a year ago.”

 

In addition, CEO Nam asked foreign ship company to open new routes in Incheon Port by making the most of the advantages and promised to offer proactive support to newly introduced routes. 

 

AFSRK (Association of Foreign Ship-owners' Representatives in Korea) is a gathering of 24 foreign ship owners including Maersk, Evergreen, NYK and OOCL that have a branch office in Korea and was established to exchange information on logistics business among ship companies.
