Incheon Port is primed to make the leap to becoming a high-value-added port by revitalizing its specialized e-commerce zone.

□ Incheon Port Authority (www.icpa.or.kr, President Choi Jun-wook) had signed a contract for occupancy with Logis Valley HTNS in the E-Commerce Specialized Zone* of Incheon Port Aam Logistics Complex 2, reported the authority on the afternoon of the 6th.

  * E-commerce Specialized Zone: Designated by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in August last year to foster Incheon Port as an e-commerce specialized port in line with the continued growth of the e-commerce market.

□ Logis Valley HTNS Co., Ltd. was selected as the preferred bidder for occupancy in area * 46,753 of e-commerce lot in Incheon Port E-Commerce Specialized Zone in July. After a total of three negotiations, the company reached an agreement on detailed items such as Rental conditions, Environmental and safety management, Maintenance of tenant facilities, and Requirements for tenant facilities, all of which were included in the contract.

     * Please refer to the attachment for detailed lot status.

□ In accordance with this contract, Logis Valley HTNS Co., Ltd. will be converted into an official occupant. After related procedures, such as licensing and lease contracts, construction of a specialized logistics center will begin in the first half of next year. The center will operate as an e-commerce transshipment and global e-commerce distribution center (GDC)*.

  * GDC (Global Distribution Center): Under the Comprehensive Support Plan for Attracting and Revitalizing GDCannounced by the Korea Customs Service in May 2020, GDC operation requirements have been greatly eased, allowing GDC business and domestic goods to be brought in within the general bonded area, and simplifying the reporting of goods movement between GDCs of the same corporation.

□ The construction of such a logistics complex is a symbolic sign of the start of a full-fledged e-commerce specialized port, and with the full-scale operation of the center by 2024, the average annual volume of cargo is expected to increase by more than 22,000 TEU while more than 500 jobs will be added.

□ “Incheon Port Aam Logistics Complex 2 has passed the first gateway to becoming a hub for e-commerce,” said Kim Jong-gil, vice president of IPA’s operation division. “In line with the explosive growth of e-commerce cargo in Incheon Port, we will do our best to strengthen our competitiveness, by preparing various measures to support resident companies,” he added.

□ Aam Logistics Complex 2 is a 2.57 million port hinterland complex created by investing a total of KRW 329.1 billion in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. It is currently recruiting tenant companies after completing the zone 1 of phase 1.
